AVI50222 - Diploma in Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane)

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the roles of flight crew personnel performing normal and emergency commercial pilot duties in support of commercial or Defence aviation flight operations. Flight crew duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge to a wide range of air transport operations, including passenger, charter and cargo operations. Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts and within broad but established parameters. This qualification forms some of the requirements for certification as a commercial pilot by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as directed by Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 61 Flight crew licensing. People seeking certification should check these requirements with CASA.

Course Delivery and Assessment

A range of delivery modes will be used during the teaching and learning of this qualification. These include:

Online learning (with full online support)
Face to face specialised Flight Theory training from qualified Instructor Pilots
Sequenced modules to allow a logical progression
One to one aeroplane Flight training in a range of different aircraft

Assessment is competency based and completed both online and in simulated and actual practical tasks at a suitable location. Assessment techniques may include:

Written examinations
Observation
Questioning
Written and practical tasks
Flying assessments with a qualified flight training assessor

Course Duration

The AVI50222 Diploma in Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) is completed over 12 months full time.

Entry Requirements

Operational flight crew are to satisfy General and Aviation English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements as directed by aviation regulatory authorities. Candidates should check with CASA or Defence aviation for specific requirements.

Payment or Funding Options

Skills Compliance has a range of options for students to pay their tuition and materials fees. Options include payment plans and accessing a VET student loan for eligible applicants. A VET Student Loan (VSL) is a loan that gives rise to a VET debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid. VET student loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements. VSL is for tuition fees only and does not cover any specified additional costs.

The RTO guarantees that the student will be provided with every opportunity to complete the qualification. We do not guarantee employment upon completion of this qualification.

Students who are deemed competent in all 29 units of competency for AVI50222 Diploma in Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) will be awarded a Qualification and a record of results.

Students who achieve at least one unit of competency (but not the full qualification) will receive a Statement of Attainment.
